Exporting Tyres Outside of the UK

Exporting Tyres

If you are thinking of exporting tyres outside of the UK there are a few questions you may have. This page tries to answer the most common questions we get asked. If there is anything else you need help with please contact us for assistance.

Do You Ship Abroad?

We normally ask you to arrange your own shipping quotes with your preferred shipping agent. We can advise the weights and dimensions of your order, and we can deliver into your UK shipping agent for you. We can try to help and give you ball park figures for what you are likely to pay. In certain circumstances we will be able to quote you on shipping, and arrange and book it for you. This is done on a per order basis so contact us with your requirements and we will help if we can. You can find lots more information about international shipping from shipping companies like DHL.

Can I Avoid Paying UK VAT?

On some export orders standard UK VAT can be avoided and charged at 0%. This depends on the country the tyres are being exported to:

1. Exporting to countries OUTSIDE OF THE EU - Companies and individuals located in countries that are not a member state of the European Union (EU) do not need to pay UK VAT. However, we do need to be given PROOF OF EXPORT in order for us to zero rate the VAT. This proof of export is usually in the form of a Bill of Lading that most shipping agents will happily provide as part of their normal procedures. Please let us know the shippers you are using and if we can contact them and be sure they can provide us with this document we will zero rate the VAT on your order before payment is taken. If we cannot be sure we will get this document then we will ask you to pay the VAT and we will then REFUND the VAT once you provide us with the Bill of Lading after shipping has occurred. Please note that we can only make the invoice out to the person or company name and address that the goods are being shipped to.

2. Exporting to countries WITHIN THE EU -  Companies located in countries that ARE member states of the European Union (EU) do not need to pay UK VAT if they have a valid EU VAT/TAX number. Please provide us with your details when asking for a quote and we will be able to zero rate the VAT for you. Individuals and companies without a registered tax number must still pay the full UK VAT on their order. Proof of export may also be requested for EU exports.

How Can I Pay for My Order?

All international orders, where goods are being exported outside of the UK, must be paid for by direct bank transfer of the funds into our UK registered bank account. We do not accept payment by other means (Paypal/Card) for security and fraud reasons. Our UK bank details are:

Account Name: Big Tyres Ltd
Account Number: 29478314
Sort Code: 050641
IBAN: GB03YORK05064129478314
BIC: YORKGB22
Banks Adress: Yorkshire Bank, Business Direct, Box 601, Symington Business Centre, 7 North Avenue, Clydebank Business Park, Clydebank, G81 2NT

Will I Have to Pay Import or Customs Duties?

Customs import duties and taxes vary with every country and we cannot advise what these charges will be. Any payments due are the full responsibility of the customer. This website helps to give you a guide of what you might expect to pay for each country, but please do your own checks before ordering. The charges can depend on the commodity code used to classify the goods you buy, which for tyres can be slightly different depending on the category (Car/Tractor/Truck) and size of tyre you order. For guide purposes we would advise searching using these codes: Agri Tyres - 40117000, Car/Trailer/Van Tyres - 40111000, Most Wheel Rims - 87087099.
