Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions we get asked at Big Tyres.

My tyres are mishapen how do I fit them?

When not inflated tyres can often be misshapen or appear compressed. This is normal and is not a tyre fault. Tyre rubber is malleable and tyres are often compressed when transported into the UK market place by their manufactures. Tyres are required to be fitted by fully qualified experienced tyre fitters, who posses the correct tools to fit tyres correctly, these tools include tyre levers and bead blasters. Please take the tyre to a local fitter who should only charge you a small fee to fit your tyres for you (£10 for example for a turf or quad tyre). Please watch this video as it illustrates how a tyre fitter would quickly and easily fit a mishapen tyre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jEJldQbUsQ.

Do you have any free used tyres?

We appreciate that tyres make great garden features, sand pits and are really useful in fitness scenarios, but sadly we don't have any used tyres so we cannot offer to supply you with any. Sorry!

Can you quote me a cost for a tyre to use in the gym?

Tyres are not the cheapest item to buy, and typically a tyre for gym use from us will cost around £2.50 + VAT per Kg. So as a guide a 30kg tyre would be £75 + VAT ball park, a 60 Kg tyre around £150 + VAT and so on. We don't have worn / used tyres only new stock, but we usually offer you our clearance or cosmetically damaged goods for these prices.
