VAT (TAX) exemption may apply to your order if the goods are being exported outside of the UK, if the goods are for accessibility scooters and accessibility modified vehicles that qualify according to HMRC, or if you are ordering on behalf of visiting NATO forces or other qualifying personnel.

Value Added Tax (VAT) is a UK tax which must be added to all products and services supplied by UK VAT registered businesses. Big Tyres is registered for VAT in the UK under registration number GB996757828 and by UK law we must apply VAT to all of our orders unless they qualify for VAT Exemption. The current standard rate of VAT in the UK is 20%.

Orders to customers located outside of the UK can normally qualify for VAT exemption. Please read our Exporting Tyres page for details of how international orders work, and whether UK VAT can be waived or reclaimed on your order with Big Tyres.

If you are registered disabled in the UK you may be entitled to VAT free purchases on some items. HMRC is very strict on what qualifies and what does not qualify. You can read their latest guidance here. If you feel you qualify for VAT exemption please follow the 3 steps below.

2. Print the form, fill it in and post the completed form to: Big Tyres Ltd, Unit 4B, Oldknows Factory, St Anns Hill Road, Nottingham, NG3 4GN. Alternatively you can scan a copy and email it to us at [email protected].

3. If the application is successful we will be able to complete the order by phone and you will not be charged VAT on your order!

Please note: This service is only available to registered disabled customers and any fraudulent claims may result in legal proceedings by HMRC.

VAT can often be removed from orders where we are supplying military bases and military personnel, such a visiting NATO defence forces and on authorised concession contracts with the Defense Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES). If you believe you qualify for this or a similar exemption please contact our team to discuss it and to provide us with the required documentation.
