POLYURETHANE BONDED TYRES
Our Poly Bonded Tyre & Wheel range covers all areas of indoor industrial & material's handling applications. Standard specification wheels, tyres & combinations are kept on the shelf, whilst bespoke units can be manufactured to your specification. Please contact us for more information.
Poly Band Tyres offer up to double the weight capacity of solid rubber tyres, and up to four times the lifespan, whilst offering a solution that will not mark warehouse or factory floors. The majority of sizes can be offered in variations that offer high levels of slip resistance, this is particularly useful for wet or low friction application such as food preparation or cold storage use.
Polyurethane tyres cannot be punctured, have a greater level of tear and split resistance and offer a lower rolling resistance than the equivalent rubber alternative avoiding costly downtime for repair, recharge and frequent tyre replacements. This makes them ideal for automated battery powered machines that will be running 24/7.
Polyurethane tyres can be offered as full poly and wheel assemblies or as press on polyurethane bands dependant on application. If you have any enquiries in regard to Poly Band, Polyurethane Tyres or Poly Wheel and Tyre combinations then please either call us on 0115 994 0900or complete the 'Polyurethane Tyre Contact Form' below for a bespoke quote.

HOW DO WE SELECT THE CORRECT TYRES FOR YOU?
We will ask questions to understand what machine the poly tyres will be used on and the application for which it will be used. Low friction compounds for polyurethane tyres need to be separately specified so we may also require information on the location of use to ensure the correct compounds are used. We will need to know the make and model of the machine to ascertain the wheel size required. In some cases, we may ask you to provide the wheel size especially if this is for a bespoke wheel. If you have specific requirements for material hardness or compound, we can take this into account when providing a quote.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN POLYURETHANE AND RUBBER TYRES
The quality of your poly bands and wheels will depend on the experience and expertise of the manufacturer, as well as the quality of the material used. Big Tyres ensure only market leading polyurethane producers are used that have been tried and tested across multiple sectors, countries and applications.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are some of the more frequent questions we get asked about our Polyurethane tyres. If you have another question, please do get in touch.
Normally it is Material handling and industrial machines, electric indoor forklifts, automated packing equipment, automated warehouse material handlers, Mobile Robot systems, Railway movement, elevators and other factory applications. Polyurethane is not suitable for internal combustion powered forklifts and recommended for indoor use on smooth floors.
It depends on the specific machine and compound required. Normally the initial costs are higher than rubber, but this is far outweighed by up to four times the lifespan and up to double the weight capacity allowing for longer and more efficient operation. Please give us your tyre size and we will quote based on the individual requirement for your specific tyre size and application.
Typically, we are able to offer a same day quote, in stock items are available on a next day delivery if ordered before 3pm. Special order or bespoke items will come with longer lead times which can be confirmed at the point of order. If you are on tight time scales, please speak with us.
Most customers manage to sort this themselves, but in some cases, we can also arrange for fitters to come to your site and remove your existing units for you and fit the replacement. Poly Fitting comes with additional fees which are calculated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more information or a quote.
If you are changing from a rubber tyre you will notice a reduction in rolling resistance this helps increase battery life and machine efficiency, you may also notice a slight reduction in traction on wet or slippery surfaces this can be negated with special compounds or siped patterns specifically designed for these types of application. The harder compound of poly tyres may slightly impact operator comfort.
Yes. Poly bands have up to double the weight capacity of the equivalent solid rubber offerings.
If you already have Poly Tyres, there will be no change to the ride or handling of the machine. If you are replacing rubber, you may notice some level of reduction in operator comfort due to the increased hardness of the polyurethane material.
This is dependant on the machine and the wheels already fitted. Normally we are able to source an equivalent Poly Tyre and Wheel equivalent for electric machines. Contact us with your full vehicle details and we can review on a case-by-case basis. Some machines will not be compatible with Polyurethane tyres.
